About this event

The coronavirus pandemic has dramatically changed the  day-to-day lives of university students and staff. Teaching has moved online, with significant changes to assessment, and many students are no longer living on campus or in their term-time housing. This 'new abnormal' in higher education is impacting university students' and staff mental health.

The Office for Students has noted:

"…All students are likely to require increased pastoral support and resources to support their wellbeing’ during this period… [Universities should take] reasonable steps to put in place equivalent alternative arrangements for such support for all students."

This ProtectED Reflections event will explore and discuss university practice in this area.

We are very pleased to welcome two speakers for this event:

  • Lisa Bayliss-Pratt, Chief Nurse at Health Education England (HEE), and Pro Vice-Chancellor for Health and Life Sciences at Coventry University – a ProtectED Founder Member university
  • Nick Bennett, Co-Founder & Co-CEO at Fika – The Mental Fitness Platform

Lisa and Nick will be discussing the practices and structures they are putting in place to support student and staff mental health throughout the Covid-19 lockdown. As well as speaking about their current response to the crisis, they will discuss the impact of the lockdown on future practice, and what changes they envision for future student and staff support provision.

We look forward to you joining us.
