ProtectED Conversations – The Collaborative Path to Improving Student & Staff Safety


The ProtectED Conversations series brings together higher education professionals, academics and ProtectED Member institutions to share perspectives on issues impacting students' safety and wellbeing.

ProtectED Founder Members and Keynote Speakers Intersol Global will be sharing their approaches and case studies from their extensive and critical work in improving the student experience and safety within the Higher Education Sector.

10.00 -10.45 - The event will be hosted by Kay Littlehales our ProtectED Development Manager, who will launch the event with a key update on the ProtectED journey.

10.45 - 11.30 - From our host university Coventry - Lisa Bayliss-Pratt, Chief Nurse at Health Education England (HEE), and Pro-Vice-Chancellor, will discuss developing a university-wide Well-Being best that includes developing the staff and students experience.

11.30 - 12.15 - Claire Humble- Head of campus security at Teesside University a ProtectED Founder Member Institution will be discussing Security Strategies: -

o Building a Safety and Security Culture empowering staff and students to help keep themselves safe

o Accelerating response times -through greater situational awareness and coordination of resources

o Recruitment and retention – Understanding how Technology can play a role

12.15 – 13.00 Break for Lunch (Networking)

13.00 – 15.00 - CEO, Ian Hynes, and COO and senior investigation case manager, Mick Confrey, will host an inter-active practical session using redacted case studies to focus on the “what to do’s” in those initial Investigation stages within the HE Sector. Intersol Global combine hundreds of years practical experience of investigation, from simple and low-risk through to complex and high-risk cases. This will be a ‘Taster session’.
