Congratulations Trevor Jones on your award of an AUCSO Fellowship

On Friday, November 24 the Association of University Chief Security Officers (AUCSO), the UK based body, for security professionals working in higher and further education, awarded Trevor Jones, Head of security at the University of Salford and the past chair of AUCSO a Fellowship. Congratulations Trevor on receiving this Fellowship it is well deserved.


The Fellowship has been a close kept secret, and ensuring Trevor was surprised by the award, at the AUCSO Northern Region meeting, which was held at the University of York, and hosted by the AUCSO's current vice chair Geoff Brown, has been difficult.


Julie Charge, Deputy Chief Executive officer, at the University of Salford, who was part of the surprise said:" It was a pleasure and privilege to support Trevor at this event. He is only the 6th person to receive this award and it was clear that fellow Chief Security Officers from across the sector and other highly esteemed guests hold Trevor in high regard. I’m delighted that his dedication to keeping and improving the safety of students and staff has been recognised in this way."


The award was presented to Trevor by Oliver Curran, the current AUCSO chair in the presence of Julie Charge, Executive Director of Finance at the University of Salford, Julie Barker, AUCSO Chief Operations Officer Bernie Duncan MBE former coo of AUCSO and Geoff Brown of York University and Vice Chair.


Ollie Curran, said: “Congratulations to Trevor Jones on receiving the AUCSO Fellowship award. Trevor becomes only the 6th person in AUCSO's 40 year history to receive this honour, which shows how incredibly respected Trevor is across the association. "


Trevor was AUCSO’s Vice Chair between 2015 and 2018, and Chair between 2018 and 2021, and has always had an incredible commitment and dedication to his work in improving security in the HE sector, advocating of training for security teams in mental health and suicide prevention, and introducing the training to all members during his time as Chair.

Trevor was taken aback by the honour and said: “I’m thrilled to recieve such an honour, it means a great deal to me.”


The team at ProtectED are so happy for Trevor and send our Congratulations on his receiving the well deserved AUCSO Fellowship award, to be only the 6th person in AUCSO's 40 year history to receive this honour, shows Trevor's dedication, commitment to Higher Education Security.
