NPCC - Forces patrol student bars to tackle spiking during freshers’ week

As new university students start their Higher Education journey, there can be a lot of information to take in, they can be overloaded with information having to remember everything from a map of the campus, to how to use their keycard. This is all mixed up with the excitement and trepidation of being at university, and can lead to them; to not being as vigilant as they would normally be, when they are out and meeting new people, with students distracted and excited to go out and experience all university has to offer, it is no wonder that at this time of year, is when drink spiking seems to be most prevalent, from spiking people with drugs for "fun" to see what they do, to more malicious intent. The National Police Chief’s Council is taking the threat very seriously and are sending officers into popular venues to act as a deterrent.
